16.00-18.00 Homonationalism in Sweden (EN)

IDAHOT was created in 2004 to draw the attention of policymakers, opinion leaders, social movements, media and the general public to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTQIA people all over the world. The date, May 17, was chosen to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder. IDAHOT represents an annual landmark to draw attention to the alarming situation faced by lesbian, gay, bisexuals, transgender, intersex, queer people and all those who do not conform to majority sexual and gender norms. It is not a centralised campaign, but rather a moment that everyone can take advantage of to take action. IDAHOT is now celebrated in more than 120 countries, with more than 1000 events.
